cultural landscape

Today in class we started a new unit about Cultural Landscape. The key issues are, where is the worlds population distributed, why is the global population increasing, why does population growth vary among regions, and why do some regions face health threats? So where is the population distributed? It is distributed in population concentrations. 2/3 of the worlds people live in East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Europe. Site and situation of population clusters are low lying areas with fertile soil and temperature climate, near an ocean or river with easy access to the ocean. Sparsely populated regions humans avoid living in certain environments such as,  dry lands, wet lands, cold lands, and high lands or places considered too harsh to live in. Population density can be computed in up to three ways. The three ways are, Arithmetic, Physiological, and Agricultural. Arithmetic density is the total number of objects in an area you figure this out by divining population by land area. Physiological density is the number of people supported by a unit area of arable land. This can be calculated by dividing population by arable land area. The last way is Agricultural density which is ratio of number of farmers to amount of arable land this can be calculated by diving number of farmers by arable land. The next topic is Components of Population Growth which we had already learned but they are Crude birth rate, crude death rate, and natural increase rate.
