migration
Today in class we talked about migration and why people would leave or go to another country. The Net Migration Rate is the difference between the number of persons entering and leaving a country during a year. An excess of persons entering the country is met immigration which is written as a positive number. On the other hand, net emigration is excess of persons leaving a country and is written as a negative number. People may leave a country because of a push or pull. Some push people face are civil wars, environmental degradation, unemployment or underemployment, and religious or ethnic persecution. Some pull forces are a better economical opportunity, better health services, religious freedom, and political freedom. For example, people who have illnesses who need certain drugs may pay a lot in the US but in Canada, they would pay little or nothing. This might be a reason someone might consider emigrating. In other places such as Syria, they may want to leave because of something more serious. Such as their own leaders bombing the country for them trying to start a revolution six years ago.
