1/8/19 classwork

There are four types of Vedic texts Rig-Veda, Sama-Veda, Yajur-Veda, and Atharva-Veda. The Rig-Veda is the oldest of the Vedas and it has 1,028 hymns. The Sama-Veda is the veda of melodies and chants and this veda has 1,549 hymns. The Yajur-Veda is mostly contained of worship rituals. This veda also contains 1,875 hymns. Finally, the Artharva-Veda is the veda that was added to the Vedic texts later than the other and this veda is mainly composed of procedures of everyday life.
The practice of indulgences is people on Earth paying their church for a indulgence because it was said to help their loved ones who passed away get into heaven faster. I think Martin Luther objected to the sale of Indulgences because he felt it was wrong to tell people that the fastest way to help their loved ones go to Heaven faster was to pay the church.  I did not have to do much research because I had already learned all about Martin Luther and watched the movie about his life.
The Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca is called the Hajj. The journey to the Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam and all who are physically and financially able are required to make the pilgrimage. All muslims must travel to Mecca, Saudi Arabia where the holy place is. All people must go there to renew their sense of purpose in the world.Image result for hajj
