More about maps!

The map we are all most familiar with is the mercator map. Maps have shifted from simply a tool that provides location reference to a tool used by geographers to communicate complex geographic phenomena. Geographic grid is a system of imaginary arcs drawn in the pattern on Earth's surface. Meridians are acrs drawn between the north and south poles. Each line is numbered according to a system known as longitude. Parallels are acrs that run east and west at a right angle to meridians. This is called lattitude. Points on Earth's surface can be communicated by referencing points of lattitude and longitude intersection. If you are looking for the points of an exact place you would divide them by minutes and seconds. Earth's surface is divided into 360 degrees of longitude, divide 360 by 24 time zones (for each hour of the day) = 15 degrees.
